A Mirror for Princes, the Qābūs Nāma, by Kai Kā'ūs ibn Iskandar, Prince of Gurgān, translated from Persian to English by Reuben Levy (New York, 1951), in 289 bookmarked and searchable pdf pages. Wikipedia has an entry (Qabus-nama) on this major work of Persian literature which dates from around 1080, written by the ruler of Tabaristan. Another entry describes the genre of Mirrors for Princes that was popular world-wide from Antiquity through the Middle Ages, and which tries to teach proper behavior—to would-be rulers, and others.
